A warming drawer is meant to keep food at serving temperature, not to cook it. If an Electrolux warming drawer stays cool or only lukewarm, the cause may be a setting, a latch or a worn heating part.
Start with the settings
- Check that the drawer is fully closed. A drawer that sits a little open will not warm.
- Confirm the temperature or mode setting. Some models have low, medium and high, or a moist and crisp choice.
- Give it time. Warming drawers heat slowly, and a preheat of 15 to 20 minutes may be needed.
- Look for a control lock on the panel.
- Check that the drawer is on its rails and not pushed off track.
What you can notice
- The panel lights up but the drawer stays cold: a heating element, a thermostat or a control may be the issue.
- The drawer is warm in one spot only: uneven heating or a blocked vent.
- The drawer does not light or respond: power supply, switch or control.
- A burning smell: grease or spills on the element. Turn it off and let it cool.
Care that helps
- Keep the drawer clear of foil on the bottom, which can block heat flow.
- Wipe spills when the drawer is cool.
- Do not store plastic items in a warming drawer.
What the sign alone cannot show
A cold drawer does not mean the element has failed. A thermostat that does not close or a loose wire gives the same result. We use a meter to test the parts in order.
Older warming drawers
Drawers 10 years old or more may have worn latches or slow heating. We repair them, and we tell you if the cost approaches that of a replacement.
Our warming drawer repair page lists what we service. When you phone us or use the contact form, tell us how long the drawer has stayed lukewarm. We will find a three-hour arrival window that suits you, and you approve a written quote before the technician starts the work.
