What PF means
PF is the Power Failure light on Electrolux refrigerators with an electronic display, such as the EI23BC30KS, EW23BC85KS and ERFC2393AS. It tells you there was a power outage or surge. The temperature display may blink until you acknowledge it, and a high temperature alarm can follow if the cabinet warmed. Press mute sounds or CLEAR ALERTS, depending on your model. A repeat of PF without an outage deserves a look.
Common causes of PF
- A power outage or surge
- A loose plug or an unstable outlet
- A control or power supply that drops out
1. Press mute sounds or CLEAR ALERTS to acknowledge the alert. 2. Check that the plug is firm in the outlet and the breaker is on. 3. Check the food temperature after the outage. 4. If PF returns without an outage, call us.
- If PF shows with no outage, we look at the outlet, the plug and the control.
- We check that the unit is cooling normally again.

What does PF mean on my refrigerator?
The refrigerator lost power or saw a surge. Press the mute sounds or CLEAR ALERTS key, depending on your model, to acknowledge the message and stop the blinking temperature display.
Can PF cause a high temperature alarm?
Yes. If the cabinet warmed up during the outage, the high temperature alert may follow. Check the food temperature and use your judgment about perishables.
PF keeps appearing with no outage. Why?
Check that the plug is firm and the outlet works. If those are fine, the control or its power supply may be dropping out, and we can test them.
Still unsure about PF?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
