What DI SP means
DI SP, sometimes written DISP, appears on Electrolux refrigerators with a through-door ice dispenser, such as the EI23BC35KS, EW23BC85KS and ERFC2393AS. It means ice is jammed in the chute. An alarm can sound when a cube sits in the chute too long. Ice will not dispense normally until the blockage is cleared. This is usually caused by clumped ice and not by a broken part.
Common causes of DI SP
- Cubes frozen together in the bin or chute
- Ice that melted and refroze after a power or door problem
- The dispenser flap or chute not moving freely
1. Take out the ice bin. 2. Let the ice thaw, empty the bin and clean it. 3. Check the chute for stuck cubes and clear them. 4. Put the bin back and test the dispenser. If DI SP returns, call us.
- If ice keeps jamming, we check temperatures and the dispenser flap, not just the chute.
- We look for a reason ice is melting and refreezing.

Why is my ice dispenser beeping and showing DI SP?
A cube is stuck in the chute. The alarm sounds when ice stays in the chute too long, and the dispenser will not give ice normally until the jam is cleared.
Can I just poke the ice out of the chute?
Thawing the bin and clearing the chute is safer than prying. Do not use knives or other sharp tools near the chute or the dispenser flap, because they can damage the parts.
DI SP keeps coming back. Why?
Ice may be clumping because of temperature swings, door openings or a sticky flap. If the jam repeats, we can check the freezer temperature and the dispenser path to find the cause.
