What 30 / 35 / 70 / 75 means
These four codes belong to the Electrolux Wave-Touch induction slide-in ranges, including the EW30IS65JS and EW30IS6CJS, and they describe the voltage arriving at the induction housing assembly. A 30 or 70 means the incoming AC voltage is above the allowed range, while a 35 or 75 means it has dropped below it. The range expects a normal 240-volt supply, within about ten percent. The cooktop shuts down its zones when the supply is outside that range.
Common causes of 30 / 35 / 70 / 75
- Incoming voltage at the range's outlet or terminal block
- A loose or burned connection in the power feed
- Induction housing assembly or its voltage sensing
1. Check that the range breaker is on and fully seated. 2. Notice whether other large appliances or lights act up when the range starts, and tell us. 3. Switch the range's breaker off for half a minute before turning it back on. 4. If any of these codes returns, leave the cooktop off and call us.
- The range reports a voltage reading outside its limits but cannot say whether the house or the appliance is responsible, so the incoming supply is the first thing we measure.
- We inspect the cord and the terminal connections, since they carry the full load.
- You get the quote on paper before we do anything beyond testing, and the work is covered for 30 days.
Other Range codes
What do 30 and 35 mean?
Code 30 means the voltage coming in is too high and 35 means it is too low. Codes 70 and 75 give the same readings for the second side of the cooktop.
Could the electric company be the cause?
Possibly, though wiring inside the range or its board can produce the same reading. We take measurements at the range itself before pointing at anyone, which spares you a needless call to the utility.
Is it safe to try the cooktop again?
Please hold off. Bad voltage is hard on the electronics, and a loose connection can run hot, so the sensible move is to stop using the cooktop until we have checked it.
