What E15 means
E15 appears on Electrolux radiant electric ranges that use an electronic element controller, among them the EW30ES65GS, EW30EF65GS and EI30ES55JS, when the surface control fails its own self-test. The test runs when the control starts up and checks that it can read its inputs and drive its outputs. If it does not pass, the control stops the surface elements. This covers slide-in and Wave-Touch freestanding ranges. These are older ranges that we repair.
Common causes of E15
- ESEC surface control board
- Wiring and connectors feeding the board
- Power quality at the range
1. Turn the range's breaker off for half a minute and turn it back on. 2. Check whether the oven shows an F code too and tell us. 3. Try one surface element to see whether E15 returns. 4. If the code stays, stop using the surface elements and call us.
- A failed self-test can come from the board, the wiring or the power it receives, so we check the connections and supply first.
- If the oven also shows a code, we look at both controls together.
- A quote on paper comes before any board is ordered, and if an older range is past repairing, we say that directly.
Other Range codes
What does a failed self-test mean?
The control checked itself at start-up and did not pass, so it stopped the surface elements. We then find out whether the board or something feeding it is responsible.
Is E15 the same as F15?
They are different. E15 is the surface control self-test. F15 on these ranges is a separate oven control code, and we sort out which one you have.
Is the range worth repairing?
Should a board be needed, you will see the price in writing, and we help you decide whether it is sensible for a range of this age.
Still seeing E15?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
