What F30 means

F30 on Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the EW30EF65GS, EW30ES65GS, EW30GS65GS, EI30EF55GS and EW30DF65GS, means the oven control found an open circuit in the RTD temperature probe or its wiring. Owners know it as open probe. The control sometimes shows F10 first. With no usable temperature reading, the oven will not heat as it should. These ranges are older and still common in Houston.

Common causes of F30

  • Oven temperature probe (RTD)
  • Probe wiring and connector
  • Oven control board
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Let the oven cool completely. 2. Switch off power to the range for half a minute at the plug or breaker, then restore it. 3. Try a short bake at a low setting. 4. If F30 comes back, do not bake with it and give us a call.

! Why to stop there
  • F30 means the probe circuit is open, but the code does not tell us whether the probe, its wire or the control is behind it, so we test the probe first.
  • We check the connector before replacing anything.
  • A written quote comes first, and our repair is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F30F30 questions
Why did F10 show before F30?

The control can first sense a possible runaway condition and show F10, and then find the open probe and show F30. Both lead us to the same sensor circuit.

Is an open probe expensive to fix?

Probe repairs are usually modest. You get the price in writing first, and on an older range we tell you honestly if a replacement is the better choice.

Can I still bake?

We would not trust the oven to bake correctly. Without a temperature reading, the oven cannot hold a set temperature, and your food may burn or stay undercooked.
