What 37 / 77 means
Codes 37 and 77 on Electrolux Wave-Touch induction built-in slide-in ranges, such as the EW30IS65JS and EW30IS6CJS, mean the temperature sensor on the heat sink has an open circuit, 37 on the left side and 77 on the right. The heat sink keeps the induction electronics from overheating, and the control must read its temperature at all times. Without that reading, it shuts down the affected zones for protection and shows the code.
Common causes of 37 / 77
- Heat sink temperature sensor
- Sensor wiring and connector
- Induction housing assembly or control board
1. Switch off the range's breaker, wait half a minute and switch it back on. 2. Make sure the vents at the front of the range are not blocked. 3. Note which side shows the code. 4. If 37 or 77 comes back, stop using that side and call us.
- An open sensor circuit means the control cannot read the temperature, but it does not tell us whether the sensor, its wire or the board is the cause, so we test the sensor first.
- We also check airflow around the range.
- The written quote comes before any sensor or board is ordered, and our work is covered for 30 days.
Other Range codes
What does an open sensor mean?
The control cannot see any reading from the temperature sensor on the heat sink. It treats that as unsafe and stops that side of the cooktop.
Is overheating the reason?
Not necessarily. The code is about the sensor circuit being open, which may be a wire or a connector. We still check airflow, because heat also matters.
Can I use the cooktop anyway?
No. The control shut it down because it cannot watch the heat sink, and we do not suggest running the electronics without that protection. We test the sensor and explain what we find before any repair begins.
Still seeing 37 / 77?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
