What 51-55 / 61-65 means
On Electrolux Wave-Touch induction built-in slide-in ranges, such as the EW30IS65JS and EW30IS6CJS, codes 51, 52, 54 and 55 mean an inductor temperature sensor has an open circuit at the left front, left rear, right rear or right front zone. Codes 61, 62, 64 and 65 mean the sensor reports the inductor as too hot, which can point to poor ventilation or a fan that is not moving air. This range has four zones, so there is no 53 or 63.
Common causes of 51-55 / 61-65
- Inductor temperature sensor in the named zone
- Cooling fan and ventilation around the induction housing
- Sensor wiring and connector
1. Shut the range's breaker off for half a minute and then turn it on again. 2. Make sure the front vents are clear and nothing is stored against the range. 3. Use flat cookware that matches the zone. 4. If any of these codes returns, stop using that zone and call us.
- A 5x code is an open sensor circuit and a 6x code is a heat reading, so we test different things for each.
- For 6x codes we check airflow and the cooling fan first, since heat is the concern.
- You approve a written price before we replace anything, and our repair is covered for 30 days.
Other Range codes
How do I know which zone is affected?
The second digit points to the zone: 1 is left front, 2 is left rear, 4 is right rear and 5 is right front. There is no 3, because this range has four zones.
How do the 5x codes differ from the 6x codes?
A 5x code means the zone temperature sensor circuit is open. A 6x code means the sensor reads too hot. They have different causes, so we test them differently.
Is it safe to keep cooking?
If a 6x code is showing, the control found the zone too hot and shut it off for protection, so we suggest leaving it off. Other zones may work, but call us if they act oddly.
