What - (dash) means
Electrolux ranges, including the EW30EF65GS and EW30ES65GS, can show a dash on the display when the cooktop is locked. The same lock may also show Loc in the upper display and two dashes in the cooktop displays on the slide-in models. This is a feature you or someone in the house switched on, not an error. While the lock is on, the cooktop will not respond to the touch controls. To cancel the lock, press OFF and hold it for 6 seconds.
Common causes of - (dash)
- Cooktop lock turned on by a touch or by choice
- OFF key pressed and held accidentally
- Touch panel registering a false press
1. Press the OFF key and hold it for 6 seconds. 2. Check that the dash and Loc display clear. 3. Wipe the control panel dry, because moisture can cause false touches. 4. If the lock keeps coming back on its own, call us.
- If the lock turns itself on repeatedly, the touch panel may be reading a false press, so we test the keys.
- We check for moisture or wear on the panel.
- If the panel needs repair, you see the price in writing first, and our work is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Why is my cooktop not responding?
It is likely locked. A dash on the display tells you the lock is on. Hold OFF for 6 seconds to cancel it and the controls should work again.
Is the dash an error?
No. It is a normal status display from the lock feature. Nothing needs to be repaired if it clears when you cancel the lock. If the dash stays after you cancel the lock, then we should look at the keys.
What if it keeps locking?
Then the touch panel may be picking up false presses from moisture or wear. We test the panel and tell you whether it needs repair before you pay for anything.
