What F14 means

F14 on Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the EW30EF65GS, EW30ES65GS, EW30GS65GS, EI30EF55GS and EW30DF65GS, means the oven control sees the keyboard cable as misconnected. The link runs from the display board to the touch panel through two ribbon cables. When it is not seen correctly, the control cannot read your touches and shows F14. These are older ranges that we repair, and we say plainly if a repair is not worth it.

Common causes of F14

  • Ribbon cables between the display board and the touch panel
  • Touch panel
  • Display board
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cut power to the range at the breaker for half a minute, then reconnect it. 2. Wipe the panel dry and make sure nothing is resting on it. 3. Do not try to open the control panel to reseat anything. 4. If F14 returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The code says the cable link is not being read, which may be a connection, the panel or the display board, so we check them in that order.
  • We verify both ribbon connections before replacing a part.
  • Any part is quoted in writing first, and our workmanship is covered for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F14F14 questions
What are the two ribbon cables?

They connect the display board to the touch panel. If either is loose or damaged, the control cannot read the keys and reports F14. Ribbon cables are thin and delicate, so we leave their handling to the repair visit.

Should I reseat the cables myself?

We would rather you did not. The control sits behind the panel and handling it can cause more damage. We have the proper tools and check it safely.

Which part is replaced first?

We verify the connections first. If they are good, we look at the touch panel and then the display board, so you do not pay for parts you do not need.
