What HE means
HE on an Electrolux Wave-Touch induction slide-in range, such as the EW30IS65JS, usually means a normal hot element reminder. The cooktop zone is still too hot to touch after you turned it off, and the display shows HE until it cools. That is expected after cooking and needs no repair. The one exception is a steady HE on a zone that is cold and switched off. In that case the temperature sensor reading for that zone is suspect.
Common causes of HE
- Normal heat left in the glass after cooking (not a problem)
- A zone temperature sensor reporting wrongly on a cold zone
- The cooktop control reading that sensor
1. After cooking, wait. HE disappears once the zone has cooled. 2. Do not touch the glass while HE is lit. 3. If HE still shows after the cooktop has been off and cool for a long time, wipe the glass dry and clear. 4. If it stays on a cold zone, note which zone and call us.
- We cannot tell a sensor reading problem from a control problem without testing that zone.
- We confirm the zone is truly cold before we say anything is wrong.
Other Range codes
Is HE an error code on my induction range?
Usually not. It is a status message that the cooktop surface is still hot, and it clears on its own as the glass cools. Nothing needs to be repaired in that case.
How long should HE stay on?
It stays on as long as the zone is hot. If it lasts well after the glass feels cool to a careful touch from a distance, the zone temperature sensor may be misreading, and we can test it.
Can I use the other zones while HE is lit?
Yes, the other zones still work. Treat any area with HE lit as hot, keep pans and towels away, and wait for the light to go out before you wipe the glass.
Still unsure about HE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
