What CArE means
The display on Electrolux glass-touch range hoods, such as the RH30WC60GS, RH36WC60GS, RH30WC40GS and RH36PC60GS, can read CArE, which the hood prints as CARE. It means the heat sensor found the area around the control hotter than about 158 degrees Fahrenheit. To protect the control, the blower jumps to second speed on its own. You can raise the fan to third speed, but you cannot lower it until the area cools. It is a protective message rather than a breakdown.
Common causes of CArE
- Heavy cooking heat or a pan left on high under the hood
- Grease buildup that holds heat around the control
- Heat sensor reading that stays high after the area cools
1. Turn down or turn off the burners under the hood and let the area cool. 2. Leave the fan running so it can pull heat away. 3. Check that the grease filters are clean and fitted correctly. 4. Once the area has cooled, see whether the fan speed can be lowered again, and call us if CArE stays on.
- The message is normal during heavy cooking. If it appears with cool surroundings, we test the heat sensor reading.
- We also look at airflow and the filters, because poor airflow lets heat build up under the hood.
- If a part is needed, the quote is in writing before we start, and our repair is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Why did my hood fan speed up by itself?
The heat sensor saw high heat near the control and moved the fan to second speed to protect it. This is how the hood is designed to behave, and it is not a sign something broke.
Why can I not lower the fan speed?
While the sensor still reads high heat, the control lets you raise the speed but not lower it. Once the area cools down, normal speed control comes back.
When should I call you about CArE?
Call if the message shows up when the kitchen is cool, or if the fan stays stuck on a higher speed long after cooking stops. That points to the sensor reading, and we test it.

A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
