What Door ajar means

On the Electrolux ICON under-counter wine cooler, such as the E24WC75HPS and E24WC75HSS, the door ajar alarm sounds and an indicator lights when the door has been open for five minutes. It is a warning and not an error code. You will see the indicator and hear the alarm until the door is closed. If it shows with the door shut, the door may not be sealing or the door sensing needs a look.

Common causes of Door ajar

  • The door was left open or not fully closed
  • A bottle or rack sticking out and holding the door open
  • A worn door gasket that does not seal
  • The door sensing
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Push the door shut and confirm it latches. 2. Make sure no bottle, rack or shelf is keeping the door from closing. 3. Look along the gasket for gaps or a folded edge. 4. If the alarm keeps sounding with the door fully closed, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • If the alarm sounds with the door shut, we test the door switch and look at how the door seals.
  • A worn gasket also lets warm air in, so it gets checked too.
  • Repairs follow a written price you have approved, and our work has a 30-day warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
Door ajarDoor ajar questions
When does the alarm begin?

It starts once the door has been open for five minutes. The purpose is to protect your wine from warming up while the door is left open, so a quick pour will not set it off.

What silences it?

Closing the door should end the alarm. If it carries on with the door closed, something is holding the door open or the switch has a problem that we can test.

Could a worn seal be the reason?

A gasket gap can keep the door from sitting properly, and we can check that. A poor seal also hurts how well the cooler holds temperature, so it is worth fixing.
