What CL / Cd means
On Electrolux built-in dishwashers of the Durham platform, which show the iXY style codes, CL or Cd means the door has not closed and latched successfully. This covers the ICON, EI24CD35, EI24ID30, EI24ID50, EW24ID70 and EW24ID80 models, and the status window on the EWDW6505G and EIDW6305G. On the older EWDW6505G style control, CL flashes after you start a cycle and also if the door is opened during a wash. The dishwasher will not run until the latch is made.
Common causes of CL / Cd
- Door not pushed fully closed
- Dish rack or item blocking the door
- Door latch not catching
- Door switch not signaling closed
1. Open the door and check that nothing, such as a dish or the lower rack, sticks out and blocks it. 2. Close the door firmly until you hear and feel it latch. 3. Press start again. 4. If it cannot be closed or the code stays, call us.
- If the door shuts firmly and CL still shows, the latch or door switch may not be reporting closed, so we test them.
- We look at the door hinge and spring for wear that stops the latch from catching.
- You get the price in writing before any work.

Why does CL appear mid-cycle?
If the door is opened during a wash, the dishwasher stops and shows CL. Close the door and restart. Opening the door during a wash stops the cycle by design, so after closing it firmly you can press start again to continue.
What if the door will not shut?
Something may be blocking it, or the latch may be worn. Check the racks first, then call us. A rack that has slid out of position or a dish sticking out of the bottom is the most common reason a door will not latch.
Is Cd different from CL?
On these models they carry the same meaning. We treat them as one door condition. CL and Cd both tell you the door has not latched properly, so the same simple checks and the same latch and switch tests apply.
