What i80 / i81 means
On Electrolux ICON built-in dishwashers such as the EI24ID50QS and EW24ID80QS, i80 and i81 concern the automatic door opener, the mechanism that pops the door open at the end of a cycle. An i80 means the opener is not working properly. An i81 is a warning that the control keeps to itself and does not normally show to the owner. The wash itself is usually not affected, but the door may stay shut.
Common causes of i80 / i81
- Door opener mechanism
- Opener wiring or connector
- Control output for the opener
- Door latch assembly
1. Press Cancel and wait for the cycle to finish. 2. Pull the door open by the handle. 3. Make sure nothing blocks the door, such as a rug, a pet bowl or a cabinet edge. 4. Close the door firmly. If i80 returns, you can still pull the door open by hand, and you can call us when convenient.
- We find out whether the opener or the latch is the weak link.
- We test the opener output from the control.
- We confirm the price in writing first, and the repair has a 30-day warranty.

Will my dishes still get clean?
Yes. The opener only handles the door at the end of the cycle, so washing normally continues.
Why do I never see i81?
It is a warning that is not shown to the user. We read it when we test the dishwasher.
Is this urgent?
No. You can open the door by hand each time. Fix it when it suits you, but do not force the door against the opener.
Still unsure about i80 / i81?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
