What Er 02 means

Er 02 appears on the Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch built-in dishwashers, the EWDW6505G and EIDW6305G, when the thermistor and turbidity module stops reporting properly. That module measures water temperature and how dirty the water is, and the control uses both to time the wash and heat. These dishwashers are older units that many homeowners still run. If the reading is lost, the cycle can stop or run poorly, and the display shows Er 02.

1. Open the door and look at the lower rack area for a stuck item or heavy residue near the sump. 2. Remove and rinse the filter you can reach by hand. 3. Run a short cycle with only a few dishes and see whether Er 02 returns. 4. If it does, write down at what point in the cycle it showed and call us.

The code says the module is not reporting, so we test it and its wiring rather than assume the module itself must be replaced.

What does the turbidity module do?

It checks how cloudy the water is and also senses temperature. The control uses that to decide how long to wash and heat. The module sits in the sump and reads both warmth and cloudiness, so a loss of its signal can make the cycle run poorly or stop entirely.

Can hard water cause Er 02?

Mineral film can affect the sensor reading. We check it during the visit and clean it if that is the cause. A cloudy film on the sensor can affect what it reads, so we look at the sensor and its connector before deciding on a replacement.

Is this model worth fixing?
