What F10 means
F10 is a safety code on Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch ranges, freestanding or slide-in, that have the electronic oven control, including the EW30EF65GS, EW30ES65GS, EW30GS65GS, EI30EF55GS and EW30DF65GS. The control displays it when it senses a possible runaway oven condition. That means the oven may be heating beyond what it should, caused by a shorted relay or a bad temperature sensor. The control shuts the oven down for safety. Plenty of these ranges are still cooking in Houston kitchens, and repairing them is part of our regular work.
Common causes of F10
- Oven temperature sensor (RTD) reading incorrectly
- Oven relay that is stuck on
- Oven control board
1. Switch the oven off, keep the door shut and let it cool. 2. Disconnect the range for up to half a minute, at the plug or at the breaker, then reconnect it. 3. If F10 returns, do not run the oven again until we have checked it. 4. On a gas range, if you smell gas, go outside right away and call the gas utility from there.
- F10 is a protective shutdown and does not name the sensor or the relay as the cause, so we test both of them.
- We check the sensor reading against the actual oven temperature before we replace anything.
- Before we order a single part, you get the repair quote in writing, and the finished work is guaranteed for 30 days.
Other Range codes
Is F10 dangerous?
It is a safety shutdown for a possible runaway temperature, so we treat it seriously. Turn the oven off, let it cool, and do not keep using it if the code comes back.
Can resetting fix F10?
A power reset can clear a one-time reading error. If F10 returns, the sensor and relay have to be tested, and we do that before any part is replaced.
Is F10 worth repairing on an older range?
Many times the cause is a sensor, and that repair is modest. Should the control board be involved, you get the price in writing and our candid opinion on whether the range deserves it.
