What F11 means

An F11 on an Electrolux built-in wall oven from the 2007 generation, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS or EW27EW65GS, means the control sees a shorted key. A pad on the touch panel is read as pressed all the time. The oven beeps and shows the code, and it may not respond to your presses. These older ovens are still in many Houston homes, and we repair them. Pressing any key, or turning the power off for 30 seconds, is the first step.

Common causes of F11

  • Touch panel with a pad reading as pressed
  • Display board
  • Ribbon cable or connection to the panel
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press any key on the panel. 2. If the code stays, turn the power off for 30 seconds, at the breaker or the plug. 3. Restore power and set the clock again. 4. Wipe the panel dry. If F11 returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A shorted key can come from the touch panel or the display board behind it, and the code cannot say which, so we test the panel first.
  • We check for moisture or wear at the touch panel.
  • We quote the repair in writing, and on an older oven we say plainly if it is worth doing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F11F11 questions
What does shorted key mean?

The control thinks one of the panel's keys is being pressed all the time. That can come from a worn touch panel or the display board behind it.

Will pressing a key really clear F11?

It can, if the key was only stuck for a moment. If the code returns, the panel is likely worn, and we replace the part that tests bad.

Is F11 the same as F13?

No. F11 is about the keys, and F13 is about the control's stored checksum. Both are cleared by a power-off first, but the repairs are different.
