What F31 means
Among the 2007 Electrolux built-in wall ovens, the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS and EW27EW65GS can show F31 when the RTD temperature probe or its wiring reads as shorted. The control then cannot trust the oven temperature, so it stops heating and shows the code with a beep. You will find the oven will not preheat or hold temperature. Houston still has plenty of these older ovens, and we are glad to look at one and give you an honest answer on whether fixing it makes sense.
Common causes of F31
- Oven temperature probe (RTD sensor)
- Probe wiring touching or pinched
- Oven control board
1. Press any key to see whether F31 clears. 2. If it stays, turn the oven's breaker off, wait half a minute, then turn it on again. 3. Let the oven cool, then try a short bake. 4. Should F31 appear again, keep the oven off and get in touch.
- The short may sit in the probe, in damaged wiring or in the control, so we work through them in that order.
- We measure the probe against what it should read before we replace anything.
- Parts are never ordered until you have approved the written quote, and we stand behind the work for 30 days.
Other Wall Oven codes
What does a shorted probe mean?
The sensor is reading as if its two leads touch, which the control treats as impossible. It then shuts down the heating and shows F31.
Can I bake with F31?
No. Without a trusted temperature reading, the oven will not heat correctly, and we do not suggest working around it. We would rather find the cause first and give you a written price than have you cook on a guess.
Is the repair expensive?
Probe repairs are usually modest. The price is written down before we start, and if a newer oven would serve you better, we say so.
Still seeing F31?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
