What Hot means
"Hot" is a status message on Electrolux wall ovens, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS and E30EW75GSS. It shows after a self-clean cycle when the oven is still too hot for the door to open. It is not an error. The control keeps the door locked until the temperature drops to a safe level, and the message goes away on its own. If the door stays locked long after the oven feels cool, then the lock or temperature reading is worth a look.
Common causes of Hot
- Normal cooling after self-clean
- Door lock that has not released
- Oven temperature probe reading
1. Leave the oven alone and let it cool with the door closed. 2. Keep children and pets away from the oven while the message is showing. 3. Do not try to force the door open. 4. If Hot is still on the display after the oven has cooled for a long time, call us.
- After a long wait, we would check whether the control still sees a hot oven or whether the door lock is not releasing.
- We test the probe reading and the latch rather than guess.
- A quote in writing comes first if any repair is needed, and our work is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Is "Hot" an error?
No. It only means the oven is still too hot to open safely after a self-clean cycle. It clears by itself once the oven cools.
How long does it take?
It depends on how hot the oven got and how warm your kitchen is, so the time varies. The door unlocks by itself when the temperature falls enough.
What if it never goes away?
Then the control may not be reading the temperature correctly, or the lock is stuck. That is when we step in and test it. We test the probe and the latch rather than guess.
