What Grease Filter means
Electrolux glass-touch chimney and island hoods, such as the RH30WC60GS, RH36WC60GS, RH30WC40GS and RH36PC60GS, show Grease Filter on the display after thirty hours of fan operation. It tells you the metal grease filters need to be washed so the hood keeps pulling air well. The message is a simple maintenance reminder and the hood continues to work. After cleaning, you hold the indicated button for 5 seconds to reset the count and clear the message.
Common causes of Grease Filter
- Grease filters that are due for washing
- Reminder not reset after cleaning
- Heavy grease buildup behind the filters
1. Turn the hood off and let the filters cool. 2. Remove the grease filters and wash them in warm soapy water, or as your owner's guide describes. 3. Let them dry and put them back in place. 4. Hold the indicated button for 5 seconds to reset the message, and call us if it stays on.
- The reminder is based on fan time, so it cannot tell us how dirty the filters really are. If suction seems weak, we check the fan and ducting.
- If the message returns right after a reset, we test the control.
- If the control needs work, you see the price in writing before we begin, and the repair is covered for 30 days.

How often does the Grease Filter message appear?
It comes on after thirty hours of fan operation. How soon that happens depends on how much you cook, and the hood keeps running while the message shows.
Will washing the filters clear the message?
Cleaning the filters does not clear it on its own. After they are back in place, hold the indicated button for 5 seconds to reset the count.
My hood is weak even after cleaning. What now?
That usually points to the fan motor, a blocked duct or the damper outside. We check airflow at the hood and trace where it is being lost.
