What Er 09 means
On the Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch built-in dishwashers, the EWDW6505G and EIDW6305G, Er 09 means the user board has lost its communication with the power supply or main control board. The panel you touch and the board that runs the cycle have stopped exchanging messages, so the dishwasher cannot be sure of what to do and halts. This is an older platform still found in many homes.
Common causes of Er 09
- Cable or connector between the boards
- User board communication
- Power supply or main control board
- Moisture or corrosion at a plug
1. Open the door and check that nothing is wet or dripping near the control area. 2. Note whether the panel lights and buttons respond at all, or only slowly. 3. Close the door firmly and check that it latches. 4. Leave the dishwasher unused and call us, telling us how the panel behaved.
- A restart can restore a dropped link once, but it does not tell us which board or connector is the problem, so we test the link between boards.
- We look for moisture and corrosion at the plugs first.
- We tell you the price in writing, and we say plainly if an older unit is not worth the repair.
Other Dishwasher codes
What are the boards?
One is the panel you touch, and the other runs the pump, valves and heater. They must talk to each other to run a cycle.
Why is this one severe?
Without communication, the control cannot confirm what the machine is doing, so it stops. We want to check it before it is used again. The boards must trade messages to run every cycle, so when that exchange stops, the safest choice is to hold the dishwasher until we check.
Will a restart fix it?
It may, once. If it comes back, a connection or board needs testing. Sometimes a short restart brings the link back, but if Er 09 shows again, a connection or one of the boards needs a real test.
