What i54 means
If your Electrolux ICON dishwasher, such as an EI24ID50QS or EW24ID70QT, shows i54, the control has found the wash pump rotor locked. The motor cannot turn, which usually points to dirt in the pump, a load that is too heavy for it, or a mechanical problem with the impeller. The dishwasher stops washing, so dishes come out dirty and the tub may hold water.
Common causes of i54
- Debris wedged around the pump impeller
- Overloaded rack blocking the spray arm
- Wash pump impeller or bearing problem
- Motor control board drive
1. Press Cancel and let any water settle. 2. Open the door and remove dishes that touch the lower spray arm. 3. Clean the filter and sump by hand, watching for sharp glass. 4. Spin the lower arm to check it moves freely, then run a short cycle. If i54 returns, call us.
- A locked rotor is either a jam or a pump that is failing, and only a test separates them, so we check the pump by hand and by measurement.
- We look for what got into the sump, such as glass, seeds or a label.
- The price is written and agreed before work, and the repair has a 30-day warranty.

What does a locked rotor mean?
It means the motor's moving part is stuck in place. Something is blocking it or the pump has seized, so it cannot spin even though the control is calling for it.
Can I free it myself?
You can clear the filter and loose debris from the tub. Anything deeper means opening the pump area, which we do.
Will a heavy load cause i54?
A load that is too heavy is one of the listed reasons. Keep tall items clear of the spray arms and avoid stacking dishes so tightly the arm cannot turn.
