What ERROR means

ERROR on an Electrolux built-in microwave in the 24, 27 or 30 inch trim sizes, or an over-the-range microwave such as the EI24MO45IB, EI30MO45GS or E30SO75FPS, has three common causes. It shows when you enter a clock time that does not make sense, when the sensor does not detect vapor properly during sensor cooking, and when an entry is larger than the oven allows. It is a prompt, not a failure, and the oven is usually fine.

Common causes of ERROR

  • Clock time entered incorrectly
  • Sensor cooking on food that gives off little steam
  • Time or amount above the allowed limit
  • Sensor or pad if it repeats
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press STOP/CLEAR and enter the time or setting again. 2. For a clock error, check the numbers you entered. 3. After a sensor ERROR, open the door and continue cooking manually. 4. If ERROR keeps showing for correct entries, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The message covers three different situations, so we first learn which one happened.
  • If it repeats for correct entries, we test the pads and the sensor.
  • We quote in writing first, and you decide before we start.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
ERRORERROR questions
Does ERROR mean something is broken?

Usually not. It means the oven did not accept an entry, or the sensor did not detect vapor on that cycle. Clearing it with STOP/CLEAR and trying again often fixes it.

What do I do after a sensor ERROR?

Press STOP/CLEAR, open the door and continue cooking manually with a time and power level. Check that the food is heated through before you serve it.

When is it a real problem?

If ERROR returns for entries that are correct, or on every sensor cycle, call us. That points to the pads or the sensor, and we test both before we suggest a repair.
