What 21 means

Code 21 on Electrolux Wave-Touch induction built-in slide-in ranges, such as the EW30IS65JS and EW30IS6CJS, is a LIN error. LIN stands for Local Interconnect Network, the small data line the surface control uses to talk to the induction hardware. The code means communication has been lost, or that the line is shorted. You may see the cooktop shut off and the code show on the display. The oven may be unaffected.

What is a LIN error?

It is a communication problem on the internal data line that links the cooktop control to the induction hardware. The cooktop cannot work safely when that conversation fails.

Will the oven still work?

Often the oven keeps working while the cooktop is down, but we cannot promise that for every range. We check both when we diagnose it.

Does a reset help?

A 30-second power-off sometimes clears a temporary glitch. If the code returns, the data line itself needs to be tested, and we do that on site before suggesting any part.
