What E11 means
E11 comes up on Electrolux radiant electric ranges with an electronic element controller, including the EW30ES65GS, EW30EF65GS and EI30ES55JS, when the surface control, called the ESEC, senses a shorted keypad. In plain words, it believes a key is being held down or shorted, so it stops the cooktop. This covers the slide-in and Wave-Touch freestanding models. The surface elements may not respond while the code is on the display.
Common causes of E11
- Touch keypad that reads as shorted
- Wiring or connector behind the keypad
- ESEC surface control board
1. Shut off the range at the breaker, wait half a minute, then switch it on again. 2. Dry the glass panel and take away anything sitting on it. 3. Turn on one element and watch whether E11 shows up again. 4. If E11 comes back, call us.
- The keypad, its connection or the board could be behind the short, and the display cannot tell us which, so we test each in turn.
- Moisture is a common reason we look for first.
- You see the cost in writing ahead of any work, and we back the repair for 30 days.

What is a shorted keypad?
The control sees a key as held down or electrically shorted, which it treats as a problem and stops the surface elements. Nothing has to be replaced just because the code is showing.
Can liquid cause E11?
Yes. A spill that gets under the control panel can short the keys. Keep the panel dry and let us inspect it instead of trying the keys again and again.
Will a reset clear it?
A 30-second power-off can clear a passing glitch. If E11 returns, the keypad or board needs to be tested, which we do on site. We do not replace anything until the test points to it.
Still seeing E11?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
