What E13 means
E13 on Electrolux radiant electric ranges with electronic surface element control, such as the EW30ES65GS, EW30EF65GS and EI30ES55JS, means the surface control found a bad EEPROM. The EEPROM is the small memory chip that stores the control's settings, and when it cannot be read correctly the cooktop stops. This applies to slide-in and Wave-Touch freestanding ranges. You see the code and the surface elements do not heat as usual.
Common causes of E13
- Surface control memory (EEPROM)
- ESEC surface control board
- Power interruption that corrupted the settings
1. Cut power at the breaker for half a minute, then switch it back on. 2. Check whether a power outage or surge happened recently. 3. Try one surface element to see whether the code returns. 4. If E13 stays, call us.
- A memory error usually points to the control board, but we confirm that nothing else is causing it, such as power quality.
- We look at the connections to the board first.
- If a board is needed, you see a written quote first, and our work is covered for 30 days.

What is an EEPROM?
It is a memory chip that holds the control's settings. When the control cannot read it correctly, it reports E13 and stops the surface elements.
Could a power surge cause E13?
It might. A surge or outage can corrupt the stored data. We ask about recent power events and check the board before we suggest a part.
Is it worth repairing?
If the board is needed, we tell you the price in writing first and give an honest view on whether a repair makes sense for an older range.
Still seeing E13?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
