What F11 / F1 means

Some Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch ranges, freestanding or slide-in, display F11, or F1 in certain owner guides, when the control detects a key held down for a long period. This is the shorted key alarm. For safety, it stops all oven activity until the key condition clears. The ranges are older, from roughly 2007 to 2018, and models such as the EW30EF65GS, EW30ES65GS, EW30GS65GS, EI30EF55GS and EW30DF65GS are still common in many kitchens.

Common causes of F11 / F1

  • Touch key that reads as pressed
  • Moisture or grease under the keypad
  • Oven control or keypad connection
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press any key to see whether the code clears. 2. Dry the control panel with a soft cloth and take off anything resting on it. 3. Take power off the range for up to half a minute, by pulling the plug or tripping the breaker, then restore it. 4. If the code comes back, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The control reports a stuck key without saying whether the pad, the wiring or the board is behind it, so we test each one.
  • Moisture under the keys is a common finding.
  • The quote is in writing before we begin, and on an older range we give you our honest opinion on whether to repair it.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F11 / F1F11 / F1 questions
Do F1 and F11 mean the same thing?

They describe the same thing. Some owner guides print F1 as the shorted keypad message, while the control may show F11. We treat them as one problem.

Why would a key read as pressed?

Dampness, wear or a damaged keypad can fool the control into believing a key is held down. It then stops the oven for safety until it can read the keys correctly.

Will the stovetop still work?

On many of these ranges the stovetop still works, but we cannot promise that for every model. Tell us what still works when you call.
