What Er 05 / Er 06 means
On the Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch built-in dishwashers, the EWDW6505G and EIDW6305G, Er 05 points to the upper fan and Er 06 to the lower fan. Either number means the control has not received the proper speed feedback from that fan during a cycle. The fans move air through the tub for drying, so you may notice dishes that stay damp. These dishwashers are an older platform still in many homes.
Common causes of Er 05 / Er 06
- Fan motor not turning properly
- Fan feedback wire or connector
- Fan blocked by debris or a stuck blade
- Control board reading of the fan signal
1. Open the door after a cycle and check whether dishes are unusually damp. 2. Look near the fan openings for an item or a piece of packaging that might be in the way, and remove it by hand if it is clear. 3. Run a short cycle and see whether the code returns. 4. If it does, tell us whether it was Er 05 or Er 06 and call us.
- The number tells us which fan, but not whether the motor, the wiring or the speed signal is the cause, so we test each.
- We check that the fan turns freely before replacing it.
- If a repair costs more than is sensible for an older dishwasher, we tell you plainly, and we write down the price first.

Which fan is Er 05?
Er 05 is the upper fan and Er 06 is the lower fan. Tell us which number showed. Knowing which number you saw helps us bring the right part, since the two fans sit in different places in the dishwasher.
Will the dishwasher still wash?
It may, but drying is affected. We suggest not ignoring a repeat of the code. Cleaning still works, but the drying stage suffers because the fans move the air that carries moisture out, so dishes may stay wet.
What does speed feedback mean?
The control expects the fan to report how fast it spins. If the report is missing or wrong, the control raises the error. If the report is missing, the control cannot be sure the fan is working, so it stops the cycle instead of guessing and raises the error.
