What i20 means
The i20 message on Electrolux built-in dishwashers of the Durham platform, the ICON, EI24CD35, EI24ID30, EI24ID50, EW24ID70 and EW24ID80 models means the dishwasher did not drain completely. The drain has to empty the tub within a set time, and here it did not. Standing water in the bottom is what most owners notice, along with an unfinished cycle. Common causes outside the dishwasher are a blocked disposer knockout plug, a pinched drain hose, or a hose that is not high enough under the counter.
Common causes of i20
- Disposer knockout plug still in place
- Drain hose blocked or pinched
- Drain hose too low under the counter
- Drain pump or filter blocked
1. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, make sure the knockout plug was removed from the disposer inlet. 2. Check the drain hose for a kink or a blockage. 3. Confirm the hose rises at least 32 inches from the floor. 4. Press Cancel, or switch the breaker off or unplug the dishwasher for three minutes, then try again.
- If the hose and plug are fine and i20 returns, the drain pump or its filter area needs testing.
- We check the high loop or air gap, which can let sink water back up.
- We tell you the price in writing before we begin.

What is a knockout plug?
It is a small plug in a new garbage disposer inlet that blocks the dishwasher hose. It must be removed for the dishwasher to drain.
Why does the hose need to be 32 inches high?
A raised hose stops sink water from running back into the dishwasher. Without it, draining can fail. A raised hose or high loop stops dirty sink water from running back into the dishwasher, and without it the drain can fail or smell.
How do I clear i20?
Press Cancel or switch the dishwasher off for a few minutes, as above. If the drain problem remains, i20 returns. Press Cancel or switch the dishwasher off for a few minutes as in the steps above, but if the drain problem is still there, i20 comes back.
