What i42 / i45 / i46 means
Three i4x numbers on Electrolux built-in dishwashers of the Durham platform, the ICON, EI24CD35, EI24ID30, EI24ID50, EW24ID70 and EW24ID80 models concern pressure sensor calibration. The i42 number means the signal is too noisy. The i45 number means the calibration value is too low, and i46 means it is too high. The control checks the sensor against a reference and stops when the reading does not look right. You see the number, and the cycle does not continue.
Common causes of i42 / i45 / i46
- Pressure sensor drifting or damaged
- Noise from a loose sensor harness
- Hose to the sensor partly blocked
- Control board reading the sensor
1. Clean the glass trap and filter by hand and check the sump for debris. 2. Close the door and run a short cycle. 3. Write down whether the number was i42, i45 or i46. 4. If it returns, call us with that number.
- The three numbers describe different readings, so we test the sensor in the way each number calls for.
- We look at the harness and hose before replacing the sensor.
- We tell you the price in writing first.

What is calibration?
It is the control comparing the sensor reading with what it expects when the tub is at rest. If it is far off, the control raises one of these numbers.
Why three numbers?
Each says what is wrong with the reading: noisy, too low or too high. That helps us choose tests. Each number describes what is wrong with the reading, whether it is noisy, too low or too high, and that helps us choose our tests.
Will cleaning the filter fix it?
It can help if debris affects the sensor hose. If not, the sensor needs testing. It can help if debris is affecting the sensor hose, but if the numbers come back after cleaning, the sensor needs to be tested.
