What i58 means
On Electrolux ICON built-in dishwashers like the EI24ID50QS and EW24ID80QS, i58 reports a problem with the wash pump motor connection. The control believes the motor plug is not connected, a phase is detached, or a winding inside the motor is broken. The motor then cannot run, so the dishwasher stops and the dishes are left unwashed, usually with water still in the tub.
Common causes of i58
- Wash pump plug or its contacts
- Broken winding inside the wash motor
- Wiring between the motor and the control
- Motor control board output
1. Cancel the cycle, wait for the dishwasher to stop, then open the door. 2. Check the tub for standing water and scoop out what you can with a cup. 3. Clean the filter by hand. 4. Close the door and try a short cycle once. If i58 appears again, do not repeat it and call us.
- An open connection can be a loose plug, a broken wire or a burned winding, so we test the circuit end to end.
- We confirm the control is sending the right signal before we blame the motor.
- The price is agreed in writing before the work, and you get a 30-day warranty on it.
Other Dishwasher codes
Does i58 mean the motor is burned out?
Not necessarily. The code says the circuit is open. That can be a plug that worked loose, which is a smaller repair than a new motor.
Why is there water left in the tub?
The dishwasher stopped partway through the cycle. Water that was already in the tub stays until the drain pump runs again.
Can I plug the motor back in myself?
No. The motor sits behind panels, and the dishwasher has to be disconnected from power for that work. We handle it.
