What 31 / 71 means
Electrolux Wave-Touch induction built-in slide-in ranges, such as the EW30IS65JS and EW30IS6CJS, number their induction errors by side. Code 31 is an internal generator error in the synchronization of the left cooking zones, and code 71 is the same error on the right side. The generator is the electronics that drives the induction coils. When it loses its timing reference, that side of the cooktop shuts down and shows the code.
Common causes of 31 / 71
- Induction generator on the affected side
- Wiring and connectors to the induction housing
- Cooktop control board
1. Make sure the cookware is flat, matched to the zone and centered, and that nothing metal rests on the glass. 2. Switch the range's breaker off for half a minute and then back on. 3. Try the zone on the opposite side to see whether it works. 4. If 31 or 71 returns, stop using that side and call us.
- The code tells us which side lost its timing, not which part inside the generator circuit is responsible, so we test that side.
- We compare the working side with the affected one, which helps narrow the cause.
- Nothing is ordered until you approve the written quote, and our repair is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Range codes
Does 31 mean the left side and 71 the right?
Yes. The codes are numbered by side, with 31 for the left zones and 71 for the right zones. Both describe the same type of generator sync error.
Can I keep using the other side?
Often yes, but we cannot promise it for every range. If the other side acts strangely too, we suggest you stop using the cooktop until we have checked it.
Will unplugging the range fix it?
A 30-second power-off can clear a one-time glitch in the electronics. If the code returns, the generator circuit needs to be tested on site. We then test the generator circuit before suggesting any part.
Still seeing 31 / 71?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
