What Loc means
Loc in the upper display of an Electrolux slide-in range, such as the EW30IS65JS or EW30GS65GS, means the control lock or door lock is on. On electric and induction cooktop displays the same lock shows as two dashes. While locked, the touch keys are ignored, so the oven or cooktop seems unresponsive. This is a setting you turned on, not a failure, and it needs no repair.
Common causes of Loc
- The control lock was turned on by a key press
- A wet or dirty touch pad that holds a key down
1. Find the lock key on the control and cancel the lock using the owner guide for your range. 2. Clean the touch pad with a soft damp cloth and dry it so no key reads as pressed. 3. Try the oven or cooktop again. 4. If Loc will not cancel, call us.
- If Loc will not clear, we check whether the pad itself is sticking before we look at the control.
- We confirm the keys all respond.
Other Range codes
Is Loc an error on my range?
No. It tells you the control lock is on. The range is fine, but it will ignore most keys until you cancel the lock, so it can seem like the controls have stopped working.
Why do my cooktop displays show dashes instead of Loc?
On electric and induction cooktops the same lock appears as two dashes instead of the word. It means the lock is on there too, and cancelling the lock clears both.
Loc will not go away. What does that mean?
The lock key may not be registering, or the touch pad may be damp, dirty or worn. We can test the pad and the control to see why the lock will not cancel.
Still unsure about Loc?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
