What DEMO means
On Electrolux wall ovens with a settings menu, such as the ECWS3011AS and ECWD3012AS, DEMO tells you the oven is in demo mode. The display and controls work as usual, but the oven does not heat, which makes it look as though the oven has stopped working. The mode is meant for showing the controls, and it is switched on and off from the settings menu. It does not point to a failed part.
Common causes of DEMO
- Demo mode turned on in the settings menu
- Mode set during installation
- Control that returns to demo mode
1. Turn the oven's breaker off and wait 45 seconds. 2. Turn the breaker back on. 3. Open the settings menu and turn demo mode off. 4. Start a bake cycle and confirm the oven heats. If DEMO returns, call us.
- Demo mode is a setting, so the open question is how it got turned on and whether it comes back.
- We test that the oven heats once the mode is off.
- You see a written price before work, and we tell you if the oven is fine.
Other Wall Oven codes
Why does my oven not heat?
In demo mode the display and controls work, but the oven does not heat. The DEMO message is the sign, and turning the mode off restores heating.
How do I turn demo mode off?
Turn the breaker off for 45 seconds, turn it back on, then use the settings menu to switch demo mode off. Do this at the breaker, not by taking the oven apart.
Is DEMO a sign of a failure?
No. It is a mode, not a failure. If the oven still does not heat after demo is off, that is a separate problem we can test.
Still unsure about DEMO?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
