What F14 means

F14 on an Electrolux built-in wall oven from the 2007 generation, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS or EW27EW65GS, means the keyboard cable is misconnected. The panel uses two ribbon cables, and the control found them connected wrongly or loosely. This is most often seen after the panel or board was worked on, and it keeps the keys from reading correctly. The oven beeps and shows F14. These older ovens are still common, and we repair them.

Common causes of F14

  • Two ribbon cables connected wrongly or swapped
  • Loose ribbon cable connection
  • Touch panel or display board
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Tap a key to silence the beep. 2. Turn the power off for 30 seconds, at the breaker or the plug, then back on. 3. Set the clock. 4. If F14 returns, do not open the control panel yourself, and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The code says the cables are wrong, but not whether someone worked on the panel or a connection worked loose, so we check both.
  • We look at both cables and their connectors on the board.
  • We write the price down before any work, and our repair is backed by a 30-day warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F14F14 questions
Why does F14 mention a cable?

The panel connects to the control with two ribbon cables. F14 means the control sees them connected the wrong way round or not seated well, so the keys are not read correctly.

Can I fix it by pressing a key?

Pressing a key or turning the power off may clear a one-time message. If the cables really are wrong, F14 returns, and we check and reconnect them for you.

Did my oven have recent work?

F14 often follows repair work on the panel or board. If someone worked on yours, tell us, since it helps us find the cable that is out of place.
