What F15 means

On Electrolux built-in wall ovens from the 2007 generation, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS and EW27EW65GS, F15 means the controller self check failed. The control tests itself when it starts, and F15 shows when that test does not pass. It points to the control itself rather than a sensor or a panel. The oven beeps, shows F15 and may refuse to run. It is an older oven that many homes still use, and we repair it.

Common causes of F15

  • Main control or display board
  • Power event that disturbed the control
  • Connection to the control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press a pad to stop the beeping. 2. Turn the power off for 30 seconds, at the breaker or the plug, then back on. 3. Set the clock and try a short bake. 4. If F15 returns, stop using the oven and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A self check can fail from the board or from a power event, and the code cannot tell, so we test the supply first.
  • We check the board connections.
  • We quote the repair in writing, and on an older oven we say plainly if a new board is not worth it.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F15F15 questions
What is the self check?

The control runs a test on itself each time it starts. F15 means the test did not pass, so the control cannot be trusted to run the oven safely until it is checked.

Will a power-off clear it?

It may if the failure was a one-time event. If F15 returns after you restore the power, the control board is the likely cause, and we test it before we quote any repair.

Should I replace the oven?

It depends on the age and the cost of the board. We give a written price first and tell you honestly if replacing the oven is the better choice.
