What F30 means
F30 on an Electrolux wall oven, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS or EI30EW45JS, means the control sees an open circuit on the oven temperature probe, an RTD sensor, or in its wiring. Without a good temperature reading the control cannot hold the oven at a set temperature, so it stops the cooking. You see F30 on the display and the oven will not bake or broil properly. It is an older style oven we repair, and we say plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Common causes of F30
- Oven temperature probe (RTD sensor)
- Probe wiring and connector
- Oven control board
1. Let the oven cool and press any key to see whether F30 clears. 2. Switch the oven off at its breaker for half a minute, then switch it back on. 3. Try a short bake at a low setting. 4. If F30 returns, stop using the oven and call us.
- F30 says the probe circuit is open. It does not tell us whether the probe, its wiring or the control is the cause, so we test the probe and its connector.
- A probe that reads far out of range is a common finding, and we confirm it before replacing parts.
- The quote is in writing before we begin, and our repair is backed by 30 days of workmanship coverage.

What is an open probe?
The oven temperature probe is a sensor with a known resistance. An open circuit means the control cannot read it at all, and it shows F30.
Why does a reset sometimes help?
A reset can clear a passing glitch in the reading. If F30 returns, the probe circuit still needs testing. We test the probe and its connector so you are not left guessing, and we explain what we find in plain words.
Is F30 connected to F31?
Yes, they are the two sides of the same sensor check. F30 is an open probe and F31 is a shorted probe, and we test the same circuit for either.
