What C X X means
This is the error display on Electrolux IQ-Touch electric cooktops such as the EI30EC45KS and EI36EC45KS. The control flashes the letters C, X, X in the cooking zone that has the problem. If that zone is also hot from cooking, the display adds an H to the flashing letters so you know to keep your hands away. The zone with the error will not be usable while the message shows, and the other zones may keep working normally.
Common causes of C X X
- The control board reading for the zone that is flashing
- The touch panel and its connection to the control
- The element and wiring for that single zone
- Line voltage supply to the cooktop
1. Turn off every zone and let any hot zone cool completely before touching the glass. 2. Cut power to the cooktop at its supply, restore it, and see whether the display clears. 3. Write down which zone was flashing and whether an H was showing with it. 4. If the letters come back, stop using that zone and give us the zone position and the exact characters you saw.
- A power cycle clears a one-time glitch but cannot tell us whether the zone circuit is sound, so we test that zone's control and element circuit.
- We check the line voltage reaching the cooktop to rule out a supply problem before replacing anything.
- You get a written price before any work begins, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Cooktop codes
Why does only one zone show C X X?
The control reports the error in the zone where it detects the problem. That points us to the circuit for that zone first, rather than to the whole cooktop.
What does the H next to the letters mean?
It means that zone is still hot from cooking. The H is a warning to stay clear of the glass, and it goes away on its own once the surface cools down.
Can I keep cooking on the other zones?
The other zones may work, but we suggest you stop and call us if the message returns after a power cycle. Running a cooktop that is reporting an error is not something we recommend.
