What HE means
HE stands for Hot Element and appears on Electrolux radiant and induction cooktops with the ESEC control, including the E30EC65ESS, E30EC70FSS, E30IC80ISS and EW30CC55GS. It is a status message, not a breakdown. It lights when a zone is off but the surface is still too hot to touch, and it goes out by itself when the glass has cooled to a safe temperature.
Common causes of HE
- Normal leftover heat after cooking
- Heavy or long cooking just finished
- Slow cooling in a warm kitchen
1. Keep hands, cloths and anything that can melt away from the zone while HE is lit. 2. Do not wipe spills until HE goes out. 3. Wait for the glass to cool and the message to clear on its own. 4. If HE is still on when the cooktop feels cold, tell us.
- HE is normal after cooking, so there is nothing to repair unless it stays lit with a cold surface.
- If it does stay lit when cold, we test the zone's temperature sensing before replacing anything.
- We tell you plainly if no repair is needed.
Other Cooktop codes
Is HE the same as H?
Yes, it carries the same warning. Newer Electrolux cooktops show HE where older ones show H. HE is simply the newer spelling of the same residual heat warning, so both tell you to wait before touching the zone.
Can I wipe the glass while HE is on?
Please wait. The glass is still hot, and a damp cloth can burn you or leave marks. The warning stays until the surface cools, and wiping early risks a burn and can leave sugar or milk baked onto the glass.
When does HE need a repair call?
Only if it stays on for a long time after the glass is cold to the touch. Then we check the temperature sensing. If it lingers on a cooktop that feels cold, we test the temperature sensing for that zone, since HE should not stay lit once the glass has cooled.
Still unsure about HE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
