What E 37 means

On the Electrolux ICON 36-inch induction cooktop, such as the E36IC75FSS, E 37 means the temperature sensor on the heat sink reads as broken, an open circuit. The heat sink carries heat away from the induction electronics, and the control watches it so the power parts never overheat. With no usable reading, the cooktop shuts the zones down for safety and shows E 37.

Common causes of E 37

  • Heat sink temperature sensor and its wire
  • Sensor connector at the board
  • Board input that reads the sensor
  • Cooling fan airflow around the heat sink
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn all zones off and let the cooktop cool. 2. Make sure nothing stored in the cabinet below blocks airflow to the cooktop. 3. Switch the power supply off and then on. 4. If E 37 returns, do not use the cooktop and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A reset cannot repair a broken sensor circuit, so we test the sensor and its wire for continuity.
  • We also check that the cooling airflow is clear, because heat sink readings and airflow are linked.
  • If only the sensor needs replacing, we tell you that before a larger repair is quoted.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E 37E 37 questions
Does broken mean the heat sink is overheated?

No. Broken means the control sees an open circuit and cannot get a reading. The heat sink itself may be perfectly cool. The heat sink itself is usually fine, because the sensor reads cool or goes silent, and the control cannot tell the difference.

Why does the cooktop shut down for a sensor?

The electronics depend on that reading to avoid overheating. Without it, shutting down is the safe choice. Induction electronics make heat of their own, so the control would rather stop than guess without a sensor reading.

Is a cabinet below the cooktop a problem?

Items packed tightly under it can limit airflow. Keep that space clear, but E 37 itself points to the sensor circuit. Heat that builds up under the cooktop can make other problems worse, so clear airflow is still a good habit for any induction cooktop.
