What F means
An F in a cooking zone LED on Electrolux induction cooktops, including the ICON E36IC75FSS and E30IC75FSS and the Wave-Touch EW30IC60LS, means the cooktop does not see suitable cookware on that zone. The pan may not be magnetic, may be too small for the zone, or may have been lifted off while the zone was still on. With no suitable pan sensed, the zone does not heat, and F stays lit until you fix the cookware or turn the zone off.
Common causes of F
- Cookware that is not magnetic
- A pan too small for the zone
- Pan removed while the zone stayed on
- Pan detection circuit for the zone
1. Hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan. If it does not stick firmly, induction cannot heat that pan. 2. Use a pan that covers a good part of the zone ring. 3. If you lifted the pan, turn the zone off and set it back down before restarting. 4. If a known good pan still shows F, call us.
- If a magnet-tested pan of the right size still shows F, the pan detection circuit for the zone needs a test.
- We check whether F shows on all zones or only one, which tells us where the problem is.
- We tell you the price in writing before replacing a board.
Other Cooktop codes
Why does my pan not work on induction?
Induction only heats cookware a magnet sticks to, such as cast iron and many stainless pans. Aluminum and glass will show F. If a magnet does not stick firmly to the bottom of the pan, the cooktop will not heat it, and F is the cooktop telling you so.
Does the pan size matter?
Yes. A pan that is too small for the zone may not be detected, so F appears. Match the pan to the zone ring. Very small pans can sit on the zone without being sensed, so move to a smaller ring or a larger pan before you suspect the cooktop.
What if every pan shows F?
Then the detection circuit may not be reading. We test it and tell you whether the repair makes sense for your cooktop. If every pan fails on every zone, the cooktop is probably not sensing correctly, and that is a repair we can test.
Still unsure about F?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
