What E-04 means
On the current Electrolux built-in side-swing and over-the-range microwaves, such as the EMBS2411AB and EMOW1911AS, E-04 shows during sensor cooking when the sensor does not detect vapor properly. This does not apply to popcorn. The oven turns off, so the food is not finished. It can happen if the food or dish does not give off steam the way the sensor expects, if the door was opened, or if the sensor cannot read well.
Common causes of E-04
- Food that gives off little steam
- Covered or wet dish that changes the vapor
- Moisture sensor if E-04 repeats on many foods
1. Open the door and check the food, which may be partly cooked. 2. Continue cooking manually with a time and power level. 3. Wipe the inside of the oven and the dish so steam can reach the sensor. 4. Try sensor cooking again with a different food. If E-04 repeats on many foods, call us.
- Some foods do not suit sensor cooking, so we first sort out whether the food or the sensor is the problem.
- We run a sensor cycle to see whether it detects steam as it should.
- We quote in writing first, and we tell you plainly if nothing is wrong.
Other Microwave codes
Does E-04 mean the microwave is broken?
Usually not. It means the sensor did not detect vapor properly on that cycle and the oven stopped. The food or the dish is the first thing to check.
Can I just finish cooking manually?
Yes. Set a time and power level yourself and continue. That is the right step when sensor cooking stops, and you should check that the food is hot all the way through as it heats.
When should I call you?
Call us if E-04 appears on many different foods, or on foods that worked well with sensor cooking before, since that points to the sensor and not to the food.
Still unsure about E-04?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
