EW27EW55GS
Electrolux EW27EW55GS Single Oven Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Bake element that stays cool or heats unevenly
- Door lock motor that stops the door from opening after a clean
- Wave-Touch panel that sticks on one function
- Oven temperature that drifts from the setting
The EW27EW55GS is an older Electrolux electric single wall oven, 27 inches wide, with Wave-Touch electronic controls. It is no longer a current model, and the number appears with finish letters GB, GS and GW and with numbered revisions after it. Many of these ovens are still working in Houston homes.
A 27-inch single wall oven is narrower than the common 30-inch size, so it is often found in a smaller cabinet opening. That tight fit means a cabinet cutout cannot simply be swapped for a bigger oven, which is one reason owners choose to repair these. Our usual order is the bake and broil elements, then the temperature sensor, then the door lock.
The revision number matters for parts, so we begin with the label. A written quote comes before the work, and an oven this age may simply not be worth the repair, which we will tell you.

Why is my EW27EW55GS oven uneven when baking?
A tired bake element or a sensor that reads wrong is the usual reason. We meter the element, check the sensor against a thermometer, and swap only the part that is off. The cost is quoted in writing first.
Is it worth repairing a 27-inch oven that is no longer current?
Often yes, because a 27-inch opening is hard to refit with a new unit. We confirm the parts for your revision, give the price up front, and tell you honestly if replacement would cost less over time.
What do GB, GS and GW mean on this model?
Those letters are finishes. The oven works the same under any of them, but a door glass or trim piece has to match. The label shows the exact letters for your oven.
