What E 39 means

E 39 on an Electrolux ICON 36-inch induction cooktop, such as the E36IC75FSS, means the touch panel and an induction module are set up differently from each other. Each module carries its own configuration, and the panel expects to find a matching one. When they disagree, the control refuses to run the zones so it cannot send power to the wrong place. This often shows up after a board has been replaced, though it can also appear without any earlier work.

Common causes of E 39

  • Touch panel board that does not match the module
  • A replacement board with the wrong configuration
  • Communication between the panel and the module
  • Module memory not holding its setting
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn all zones off and let the glass cool. 2. Turn the supply that feeds the cooktop off and then on again. 3. Think back to whether anyone replaced a board or had work done on the cooktop recently. 4. If E 39 returns, tell us that history when you call.

! Why to stop there
  • A power cycle cannot change which configuration each board holds, so we check that the boards in your cooktop are a matching set.
  • If a part was changed earlier, we confirm it was the correct one for the cooktop, rather than guess.
  • We tell you the price in writing before any board is ordered.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E 39E 39 questions
Why would boards not match?

This happens most often when a replacement board comes with a different setup than the original. It can also happen if a board loses its stored setting.

Did I do something wrong?

No. Nothing you do on the glass can change the configuration. It is an internal match between boards. The setting is stored inside the boards, so a pan, a spill or a button press on the glass cannot cause or clear this number.

Is it worth fixing on an older cooktop?

Often yes, since the right board brings it back fully. If the cost looks high against the cooktop's value, we say that plainly first. Using the matching board for your cooktop matters, so we check part numbers carefully before ordering anything for it.
