What Er 03 means

On the Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch built-in dishwashers, the EWDW6505G and EIDW6305G, Er 03 is the wash pump code. The unit reports that the wash motor is dead, meaning the control is not seeing the motor run when it calls for it. You would notice no spray noise during the wash, and the cycle stops with Er 03 on the display. This is an older platform still found in many homes.

1. Open the door and turn the spray arms by hand to check they spin freely. 2. Look for a piece of glass, a bone or a utensil caught in the filter area and remove it by hand. 3. Close the door and start a short cycle. 4. If you hear no pump noise or Er 03 returns, call us.

Er 03 tells us the motor is not responding, but not whether the motor, the wiring or the board output is the reason, so we test each.
We check for a jammed pump before we condemn the motor, since debris can mimic a dead motor.

Does dead wash motor mean it has to be replaced?

Not always. A jam or a wiring issue can look the same, so we test first. A jammed pump or a loose wire can give the same message as a failed motor, so we test those before suggesting a replacement.

Why is there no noise during the wash?

The pump is what makes the spraying sound. If it is not running, the dishwasher is quiet and dishes stay dirty. Without the pump spraying water, the wash does nothing, and a quiet dishwasher with dirty dishes at the end is a typical sign.

Can I run it by hand rinsing first?

Rinsing will not fix the code. We suggest stopping and calling us once Er 03 returns. Rinsing by hand does not change anything for the pump, so it is better to stop the machine and let us test it properly.
