What i55 / i56 means
The i55 and i56 codes show on Electrolux ICON built-in dishwashers like the EI24ID50QS and EW24ID80QS. Both concern the internal direct-current supply that feeds the wash pump drive. An i55 means that supply read too high, above 392 volts, and an i56 means it read too low, under 225 volts. The dishwasher stops the cycle to protect its electronics, and you may notice it fail only on certain loads or at certain times of day.
Common causes of i55 / i56
- Power board that converts the supply
- Motor control board reading the voltage
- Household supply to the dishwasher
- Loose wiring harness or connector
1. Press Cancel and note whether other appliances on the same circuit act up. 2. Check that the dishwasher's breaker has not tripped, and reset it only if it is off. 3. Open the door, close it firmly and start a short cycle. 4. If the code returns, leave the dishwasher off and call us.
- The code points to the supply and the boards that handle it, so we check the incoming voltage before we look at any part.
- We test the power board and the motor control board separately.
- You get the price in writing first, and our repair comes with a 30-day warranty.

What is the difference between i55 and i56?
i55 means the internal voltage read too high and i56 means it read too low. Both stop the cycle, and both lead us to the power side of the dishwasher.
Could my house wiring cause this?
It can. A weak or surging supply can trigger either code, which is why we measure the voltage at the dishwasher before replacing a board.
Is it safe to keep trying cycles?
Repeated starts add stress to the electronics. If the code comes back once, stop using the dishwasher and wait for us.
