What E7 means
On the Electrolux ICON built-in all-freezer columns with the Custom Set control, such as the E32AF85PQS, E32AF75JPS, EI32AF80QS and EI32AF65JS, E7 is the stuck key alarm. The control has read a key press for longer than 30 seconds. The display alternates between E7 and -10 F, and the alarm sounds for one minute. This does not mean the freezer is warm. It means the control believes a pad on the panel is held down. Pressing Alarm Off silences it.
Common causes of E7
- Touch pad on the control that is reading as held
- Moisture or residue on the panel
- Control or display board
1. Press Alarm Off to silence the alarm. 2. Wipe the control panel gently with a dry or barely damp cloth. 3. Make sure nothing, such as a magnet or a stuck note, is pressing on the panel. 4. Watch whether E7 comes back. If it does, call us.
- The alarm says a key was held, but not whether the panel, a bit of moisture or the board is the reason, so we test the keys.
- We check that the cabinet is holding its real temperature.
- We quote the work in writing first, and we stand behind it for 30 days.
Other Freezer codes
Why does the display show -10 F during E7?
The control alternates E7 with a temperature reading while the alarm is active. It does not mean the cabinet reached that number. Check the actual cabinet temperature once the alarm is silenced.
How long does the alarm sound?
The control sounds it for about one minute. Pressing Alarm Off silences it sooner. If it returns again and again, the key problem has not been fixed.
Is it worth repairing an older built-in column?
Usually a panel or board repair is reasonable on these columns, but we give you a written price first and tell you plainly if it is not worth doing.
Still unsure about E7?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
