What ER means
ER is what the owner sees on the Electrolux ICON and IQ under-counter ice makers, such as the EI15IM55GS, E15IM60GSS and E15IM60GPS, when a temperature sensor circuit stops working. The unit stops all its functions and shows ER, and in service mode the display alternates SP and ER with a number that names the exact error. So ER is what you see on the panel, and the numbered E codes, like E1 or E7, tell us which sensor is the problem.
Common causes of ER
- One of the temperature sensors
- Sensor wire or connector
- Control board that watches the sensors
1. Check that the unit is plugged in and the outlet has power. 2. Make sure the door is fully closed and nothing is wedged against it. 3. Look at the display and write down whether it shows only ER. 4. Leave the cabinet closed and do not touch the sensors, then call us and tell us the display shows ER.
- ER says a sensor outage stopped the unit, but only service mode names which one, so we read it.
- We test the named sensor and its wiring before changing a part.
- We quote the repair in writing, and you decide before work begins.
Other Ice Maker codes
What does ER mean?
It means a temperature sensor outage stopped the unit. The exact reason is a numbered error such as E1 or E9, which we read in service mode and then use to decide the repair.
Why is nothing working?
The control stops all functions when it cannot trust a sensor, so it does not make ice at the wrong temperature. That is expected behavior with ER and not a sign of something worse.
Will unplugging it fix it?
A restart may not clear a real sensor problem, so we would not rely on it. If ER returns after you plug the unit back in, call us and mention what the display shows.
Still seeing ER?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
