What F23 means
F23 appears on Electrolux built-in wall ovens of the 2007 generation, such as the EW30EW55GS, EW30EW65GS and EW27EW65GS. It means the oven control can no longer communicate with the board that runs the upper convection fan and the oven lights. The control beeps and shows F23 on the display, and the oven may stop working until the code is cleared. These are older ovens still in many Houston kitchens, and we repair them and tell you plainly when a repair is not worth it.
Common causes of F23
- Wiring and connectors between the oven control and the fan and lights board
- The convection fan and lights board
- The oven control board
1. Press any key on the oven control and see whether the code clears. 2. If it stays, switch the oven's breaker off for half a minute, then back on. 3. Make sure nothing is stacked against the oven or blocking its vents. 4. If F23 returns, stop using the oven and give us a call.
- A reset only clears the message. It does not show whether the link, the fan board or the control caused it, so we test the connection between them.
- We check the wiring and connectors before we replace any board.
- No board is replaced until you have approved the quoted price, and the finished work is under our 30-day workmanship warranty.

Will turning the power off fix F23?
Sometimes it clears a one-time communication hiccup. If the code comes back after the 30-second power-off, the link between the control and the fan board needs to be tested.
Is it safe to keep using the oven with F23?
We would not rely on it. The oven may stop heating or lose its lights and fan, so it is better to leave it off until we have checked it.
Which board is behind F23?
The code names the upper convection fan and lights board, but a loose connection or the main control can produce the same message. We test the link first so you only pay for the part that is really causing it.
